ARMORICAN MASSIF, FRANCE

July 7th - 9th, 2022

A "pre-conference excursion" is planned in the Armorican Massif, France :

• Groix Island glaucophanites
• Champtoceaux eclogites
• Vendée eclogites and eclogite-facies gneiss

Schedule : 

July 7th :

• Pick up at hotels early morning via bus and transfer to pier in Lorient 
• Day at Groix Island
• Transfer from Lorient to Nantes in the evening - Hotel : Ibis Nantes Centre Gare Sud

July 8th :

• Departure from hotel early morning
• Visit of the Nantes region via bus

 July 9th : 

• Departure from hotel early morning
• Visit of the Nantes region via bus
• Transfer from Nantes to Paris via bus late afternoon  

Cost : 400 Euros / participant

Fees include : bus transfer from hotels to Lorient pier + boat crossing from Lorient to Groix Island and back + minibus on Groix Island + picnic on Groix Island + bus transfer from Lorient to Nantes + 2 nights at Ibis Nantes Centre Gare Sud hotel in Nantes + 2 packed lunches + bus transfer throughout the Nantes region + transfer from Nantes to Paris on evening of July 9th 

Accommodation and dinner in Lorient, dinners in Nantes and accomodation and dinner in Paris are not included

PARIS HISTORICAL RESORTS, FRANCE

July 10th, 2022

A "syn-conference excursion" is planned in Paris to visit several places and eclogite collections of historical interest, in the footsteps of Haüy:

• Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle: Haüy’s original eclogite collection with his "type" eclogites, Damour’s jadeite type samples and Smith’s world eclogite collection COSEM
• Curie’s laboratory
• Haüy’s grave at the "Père Lachaise" cemetery

Detailed program :

10:30: welcome in the amphitheater of the Galerie de l'évolution

10:40: summary of the life and work of René-Just Haüy

11h00: two centuries of research on eclogites by Gaston GODARD

11h20: history of the discovery of ultrahigh pressure metamorphism by Christian CHOPIN

11h40: presentation of the COSEM collection by David Smith

12h00: Gallery of Mineralogy

12h30: lunch buffet

01h30: visit in two groups of (1) the mineral collection and (2) historical sites in the vicinity

04h00: transfer to the train station "Gare de Lyon"

Cost : included in the overall conference registration fees

Fees include : day at the Museum d'Histoire Naturelle + lunch buffet at the Museum + bus tranfer from Museum to trainstation in Paris + TGV fast train ticket to Lyon

Accommodation and dinners in Lyon are not included

=> A bus will bring all participants directly to the trainstation in Paris at the end of the day for the transfer to Lyon

AOSTA VALLEY, ITALY

July 14th - 16th, 2022

A "post-conference excursion" is planned in the Aosta Valley, Italy:

• Saint-Marcel valley: glaucophanites and sulphide deposit (Servette) and high-P manganese deposit (Praborna)
• Val di Greyssoney eclogite-facies rocks (Lillianes)
• Eclogite-facies paragneiss (Quincinetto)
  
• Breuil Cervinia Plan maison: a balcony on the Matterhorn (Cervino)
  

Cost : 400 euros / participant

Fees include : bus transfer from Lyon to Aosta Valley + all transportation means throughout the excursion + dinner, accomodation and breakfasts for both days in the Aosta Valley (instituto Gervasone, Chatillon) + 2 packed lunches + access to the Servette Mines + cable car at Breuil Cervinia

Accommodation and dinners in Lyon are not included
