Welcome to the 14th International Eclogite Conference
The 14th International Eclogite Conference (IEC-14) is being organised in France, where the First International Eclogite Conference was organized in 1982 by Prof. David C. Smith. After 40 years, it will be high time to bring this series of conferences in the country where two centuries ago, in 1822, the mineralogist René-Just Haüy created the name “eclogite”, meaning “chosen rock”.
After a year of lockdown due to the Covid pandemic, this conference will also be an opportunity to meet again and exchange on high-pressure metamorphism. Finally, the venue in July 2022 in Lyon of the International Mineralogical Association (IMA) meeting will allow anyone to participate in the two conferences.
The conference will be held at the "École Normale Supérieure” in Lyon, from July 10 to July 13. Virtual participation will however be possible through an online version of the conference.
However, the rendezvous will be in the historical centre of Paris on July 10 at Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle (MNHN) at the Haüy’s workplace. This meeting will also bring together people arriving by international flight and those who will have taken part in the pre-conference excursion. It will be dedicated to the visit of several places and eclogite collections of historical interest, and will end with a 2-hour train journey to Lyon.
As IEC-14 ends in Lyon on July 13th, participants in the post-conference excursion will be transferred from Lyon to the Aosta Valley and back to Lyon, in time for their possible participation in the International Mineralogical Association (IMA) meeting in Lyon (July 18-22).
